What You Will Do

  • Participates in pre-proposal calls with the design team. Fosters relationships with preferred design firms.

  • Oversees the development of the design for compliance with the contract (RFP & Proposal) while remaining within our budget.

  • Works with clients to ensure expectations are met. Participates in or leads initial project kick-off meeting with stakeholders.

  • Plans and facilitates periodic meetings with stakeholders to ensure adequate communications. Typically, one a week during design.

  • Reviews design progressions (submittals), documents changes and disseminates design progressions internally which ensures contracts are awarded at the appropriate times.

  • Formally submits design progressions to the Client.

  • Works to ensure designers avoid errors, reducing financial risk during construction.

  • Develops relationships with preliminary subcontractors and ensures they communicate with the appropriate design disciplines.

  • Assists with getting additional information needed for long-lead items as required, for example, specification and information for transformers prior to issuance of that design.

  • Communicates and coordinates with construction executive and/or project manager as the project transitions from the design to construction phase. The goal is to fast track the design, have an early release package, to take the rest of the building design off the critical path.

  • After design, facilitates deconflicting clashes with our trade partners.

  • Participates in or manages sustainability accreditation process as required.

  • Working Conditions – Full time, office setting, some travel required, some light lifting may be required (50 lbs), walking, standing, sitting, keyboarding, writing and reading

Education / Experience – High school diploma/GED and 5 years of construction experience in a responsible position in design/build required OR four-year construction related degree and 5 years construction experience in a responsible position in design/build preferred. Experience and understanding of the A/E design process highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Comfortable using technology and curious to explore new technologies. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Working knowledge of web-based construction management software and BIM software. Excellent interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to build rapport and trust quickly, communicate tactfully with owners, other stakeholders, as well as Caddell employees at all levels.

Position Specific Skills - Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking skills. Ability to work and thrive in a fluid and responsive process. Design skills and thorough knowledge of the design process. Strong knowledge of the use of BIM in construction/coordination. Able to come up with new processes and approaches. Ability to manage multiple priorities within their design schedules.

Certifications, Licenses, etc. : LEED accreditation preferred.

While the salary range is typically between $78,600 – $118,000 annually, applicants are encouraged to share compensation expectations as part of the application process. Caddell honors prior experience, education, and qualifications of applicants in order to make attractive and competitive offers.
