Overview

As a Landfill CQA Technician for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you'll work in the Solid Waste practice in our Monroeville, PA office. This is a full-time position with the responsibility of performing Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) services to observe, document and monitor construction activities associated with landfill construction. Projects will include landfill base liner systems, landfill final cover cap systems, landfill gas collection and control systems and other appurtenances related to a state of the art solid waste management facility. You will work as a member of the project CQA team, and at times independently, to evaluate whether the construction meets governing project specifications and regulatory permit conditions. You will perform field testing of various construction materials, and secure samples of materials that are to be laboratory tested to confirm compliance with project specifications. You will also work closely with the CEC project manager to prepare the as-built documentation needed to certify completed work. Travel and out-of-town work will be required periodically based on project needs.

Qualifications

Experience with landfill CQA or other related fields of construction and CQA services; Experience with testing and monitoring soil materials, geosynthetic materials, pipe, and concrete; Ability to work independently in the field in varying weather and site conditions; Ability to exert physical effort in handling objects up to 50 pounds on occasion; Ability to traverse uneven surfaces; Valid driver's license and ability to drive a company pickup truck; Ability and interest to travel for work outside of the area; Interest in working at a variety of construction project sites; Ability to speak and write professionally to prepare documentation of site conditions and conduct daily communications with site and project representatives; and Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
