Quality and Food Safety Site Manager – Monroe, OH

This is a full-time, exempt level position.

Main function:

This individual leads the Monroe, OH ADM Flavors Quality and Food Safety team in a fast-paced environment that will support the implementation and enforcement of the Quality and Food Safety Management System requirements throughout the manufacturing process to ensure execution and compliance with company policies / processes, regulatory requirements, cGMP, and Industry standards. Applications of strong quality and food safety technical skills and problem solving / organizational skills, and people management will be practiced daily. The Quality and Food Safety Team is comprised of a 50 hourly, salaried, and contracted professionals. Oversite of contract manufacturing and external warehouses supporting the business will be expected.

This position reports to the Plant Manager with a dotted line reporting to the Regional QFS Manager.

Description of work performed:

  • Will lead and be accountable for all Quality and Food Safety systems and performances for facility and supportive warehouses. Owns site GFSI and PRP programs.

  • Lead a team to maintain Quality and Food Safety Management System requirements throughout the manufacturing and supply chain process to ensure execution and compliance with company policies / processes, regulatory requirements, cGMP, ISO, and other Industry standards.

  • Collaboration and leadership with cross-functional teams such as operations, customer quality, commercial, regulatory, R&D, etc., to ensure quality and good safety processes and programs are met

  • Owns facility Food Safety Plans, Food Defense plans, Sanitation standards, and Risk/hazard assessments. Responsible to ensure continually accurate and meets defined requirements and intent of code.

  • Ensure effective monitoring and communication of corporate performance metrics as well as local metrics to improve areas of focus.

  • Responsible to be point of contact for all external customer, regulatory, and certification audits as well as follow-up and corrective action completion/verification of effectiveness.

  • Provides oversight and support for all Significant Quality Events (SQE) and Serious Quality Near-misses and critical CAPA’s

  • Ensures all quality and food safety process and preventative controls are followed and effective for the facility.

  • Routine presence in production facility to demonstrate leadership and support. Will perform internal audits, management review, verification activities, and CAPA reviews, etc. as needed.

  • Provide QFS involvement for site and business development, growth, and improvement process and capital activities not owned and managed by the quality team

Requirements:

  • Four (4) year University degree in a science related field (i.e., Food Science/Engineering, Microbiology, Food or Analytical Chemistry, etc.)

  • 8+ years’ experience in managing quality control, quality assurance, and food safety in a food processing environment.

  • Experience in facility with FSSC 22000 certification

  • Human food safety auditing experience in an industrial setting is mandatory

  • HACCP/ HARPC/PCQI trained - mandatory

  • Flavors Quality experience preferred, but not required

  • Experience in GFSI schemes, organic, kosher, FSMA Food Safety Plan, and FSVP - preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
