ATI Nickel Billet Product Engineering Intern in Monroe, North Carolina

Position : Nickel Billet Product Engineering Intern

Location : Monroe, NC

Requisition ID: : 24-3355

Proven to Perform.

From the edges of space to the bottoms of ocean, our materials are proven to perform -- and so is our team. We're hiring high performers as proven as our products. Join us.

Who Is ATI?

Our company solves the world’s challenges through material science.

We are 8500 people who make up a $4 billion international company based in the United States that supplies advanced superalloys (Ni-, Ti-, Nb-, and Co-), and corrosion-resistant (Ni-, Zr-, Co-, and Fe-based) alloys to many industries including aerospace and defense.

What Is It?

ATI's Intern Program is designed for college students who have a passion for metallurgy and innovation. Our interns work collaboratively as colleagues with leading experts in the field solving real-world challenges.

This internship is based at ATI’s Monroe, NC (30 minutes outside Charlotte) facility dedicated to applied research and development in advanced titanium and nickel-based alloys. The duration of the internship is nominally six months with start date that can be scheduled around the graduate-track of the intern.

We look for ‘industrially minded’ problem-solvers, innovators, and leaders that want to apply materials science to advance the state-of-the-art in metals production. As an intern you will experience how to apply the materials science knowledge you’re gaining now, such as microstructure precipitation/growth and deformation characteristics, to the production of highly-engineered wrought products.

What Can I Achieve?

By working alongside industry experts in cross-functional areas, you will develop a strong technical knowledge-base and contribute to meaningful projects that provide a real-world view through experiential learning and process simulation.

Our program provides participants the opportunity to build strong practical experience in engineering, create networks, manage projects, and assume increasing levels of responsibility to prepare participants for successful careers within ATI. A practical understanding of the difference between the academic and industrial environments will better prepare you for life after graduation, and either ATI’s Early Career Leadership Program or a direct hire within one of our Business Units.

Where Can I Go?

ATI hires technical talent in two ways. Direct-hiring for positions can be available throughout our Technology divisions, and are tied to our Technology Ladder, which provides employees at every location opportunity for career advancement through technical achievement and technical leadership.

You can also join our Early Career Leadership Program, which is a five-year program designed to accelerate participants' professional development through a variety of business-critical assignments and development opportunities. Either path at ATI offers opportunities for technical leadership and collaboration, which helps shape the future of ATI. This internship is a great way to experience ATI and begin to understand which role is right for you.

How Can I Apply?

Please apply online, with your resume and cover letter at: www.ATIMETALS.com/CAREER

Due to the nature of these potential projects, non-US persons are not qualified to apply for the internship.

What Are The Requirements?

Candidates should have finished their second or third year of a college engineering program. Candidates should have excellent computer skills including manipulation of Excel spreadsheets. Experience with statistical analysis and metalworking is a plus, as is prior manufacturing experience.

We thrive when the expectations are great, and the barriers are high. We're solving the world's most difficult challenges through materials science. Our advanced, integrated process technologies and proven performers give us a tremendous competitive advantage. When customers systems need to fly higher, dig deeper, stand stronger, and last longer -- anywhere on, above or below the earth -- ATI is proven to perform.
