ProMedica Health System Chaplain - System Mission Services - Per Diem - Variable in Monroe, Michigan

ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services in southern Michigan and Ohio. A national leader in treatment of heart attack, congestive heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care, ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital is also a pacesetter in Michigan for obstetrics, emergency care, intensive care, controlling infections and organ donation.

Position Summary:

The Chaplain will serve as pastoral caregiver to patients, families and staff in emergency and urgent situations during nights, weekends and holidays, when regular staff is not in the hospital.

Must be available by telephone or pager at all times during on-call shifts and able to respond immediately when contacted by a hospital. If the situation is an emergency, must arrive at the hospital within 45 minutes, 30 minutes preferred.

Attends monthly spiritual care meetings.

Shares responsibility within the department for on-call shifts, being available for a minimum of 3 on-call shifts per month, including one holiday on call shift per calendar year.

Completes appropriate documentation, electronically and using appropriate forms, and maintains accurate statistics for the department.

Performs related duties as required.

Provides spiritual care to patients, the patients’ families and to the staff.

Must coordinate communication between patient/family and community clergy as needed.

Must complete all MyLearning assignments in a timely fashion. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field required or working towards such degree. One (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is highly encouraged.

Skills: Empathetic listener, nonjudgemental presence, computer skills and willingness to learn.

Years of Experience: More than 2 years experience providing spiritual care in a healthcare environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Master’s Degree in a field related to theology. Four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education.

Years of Experience: 2 years as a chaplain in a healthcare related field.

Certification: APC or NACC or equivelant.
