Monroe Housing Authority Maintenance Worker in Monroe, Connecticut

The Monroe Housing Authority/Fairway Acres is currently seeking a part-time Maintenance Worker. Interested candidates can call Heather LeMoult at 203-261-7685 or via email at housing@monroect.gov. The ideal candidate will be able to perform the following:

Job Duties:

  • Prepare vacant units for move-in.
  • Respond, as directed, promptly and professionally to work order requests both during business hours and after hours.
  • Provide excellent customer service to prospective and current tenants to promote a quality living experience for all tenants.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs in the areas of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, sheetrock, exterior structural, safety and appliances.
  • Respond, as needed, to emergency work orders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Prefer a minimum 1 year of previous experience in property management maintenance, other building maintenance or related trade is required.
  • HVAC, plumbing, drywall, electrical, and appliance experience.
  • Must have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, along with a "customer service" attitude.
  • Must maintain professional appearance and comply with prescribed uniform policy.

Additional Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English.
  • Must have a valid Drivers License and automobile insurance. (Required)
  • Must be reachable via phone or pager, except during approved time off.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekend hours and be available for on call status.
  • Must live within 30 minutes of Monroe, CT.
  • Background check required.

Job Type: Part-time

Schedule:

  • 8 hours at least needed every week
  • On call/Weekends as needed
  • Monday to Friday
