Cleveland-Cliffs Steel, LLC Process Control Specialist in Monessen, Pennsylvania

Cleveland-Cliffs LLC has an immediate opportunity for a Process Control Specialist at the Monessen, PA location.  The Process Control Specialist will be part of a team supporting applications and infrastructure critical to the operation of the facility.  Responsibilities will include all levels of automation along with some IT-type support at the plant.  We offer an excellent compensation and benefits package and unlimited career advancement opportunities.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Administration and configuration of Operating Systems and Databases including virtual systems.

  • Administration of security controls for automation systems.

  • Conduct system backups and testing according to corporate policies for automation systems.

  • Maintenance and problem solving of all aspects of the automation system.

  • Modifications to the automation system to adapt to product changes in raw materials, environmental requirements, or to implement new ideas for continuous improvement to the manufacturing process. 

  • Working with networking technologies, high speed data transmission, specialty interfaces, and video systems. 

  • Assignments on new installation or modernization projects with participation in activities such as planning, specializing design, hardware configuration, testing and new system start-up.

  • Addressing issues that may impact production or system reliability.

  • Provide support for real time computer automation and monitoring of the coking processes including troubleshooting, maintenance of software & hardware, design and installation of new automation systems, and modernization of existing systems.

  • Being well-informed of quality and reliability issues.

  • Working with vendors on products and performance issues.

  • Staying current with technological advancements in industrial automation.

  • Supporting a 7x24 operation which will require responding to occasional off-hour calls.

  • Writing periodic status reports and presenting project updates to peers, other departments, and management.

  • Various other duties as needed to support the business.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a specialty or computer related field from an accredited school, such as Electrical or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

  • Infrastructure maintenance experience, especially in desktop, server, and network support.

  • Familiarity with MS SQL (Views, Procedures, Scripting, Report Builder, etc.).

  • Familiarity with platforms such as Visual Studio, and high-level programming languages such as C#, Java, and/or Python.

  • Familiarity with VMWare VCenter, and other hypervisors.

  • Familiarity with Factory Talk (RS Logix, FTview, Factory Talk Transaction Manager).

  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

  • Demonstrated skills in organization, prioritization, time-management, and decision making.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years' experience and a bachelor's degree in a specialty or computer related field, such as Electrical specialty or Computer Science.

  • Extensive infrastructure maintenance experience, especially in desktop, server, and network support.

  • Extensive experience Familiarity with MS SQL (Views, Procedures, Scripting, Report Builder, etc.).

  • Familiarity with platforms such as Visual Studio, and high-level programming languages such as C#, Java, and/or Python.

  • Extensive experience with Factory Talk (RS Logix, FTview, Factory Talk Transaction Manager)

  • Extensive experience with VMWare VCenter, and other hypervisors.

  • An understanding of coke plant operations, including the inter-relationship of specialty with operation and maintenance function background is a plus.

  • Working experience in a coke manufacturing setting is a plus.

Physical Requirements/Working Condit ons:

  • This position is a combination of work in office and industrial settings. 

  • Must be able to wear required personal protection equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, face shields, hearing protection, respirators, fall protection harnesses, and other PPE as required.

  • Duties require extensive manual dexterity in usage of computer terminal and keyboard, while sitting for long periods of time.
