How You Will Make an Impact:

The shift supervisor is an interictal part of our leadership team. They will provide oversite to all plant operations during their shift as well as supporting and assisting process operators, lab technicians, maintenance, and leadership team in daily plant activities.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Assure that new employees are tasked trained, have been assigned a mentor, and are wearing the required green hardhats until training is complete. Part of this training is documentation to track their progress.

  • Direct supervision of heavy equipment operators, and process operators in both wet and dry plants. This includes:

  • Managing absenteeism, tardiness, and any excused absences

  • Being actively involved with timecard management

  • Coaching employees on how to improve their skill, behavior, and attitude

  • Setting team and individual goals

  • Determining the root cause of problems and directing appropriate corrective measures.

  • Main point of contact between their team and leadership such as plant manager, maintenance manager, Dredge Manager and Regional plant manager.

  • Support process, maintenance and dredge teams with troubleshooting and equipment issues

  • Ensure that crew prepares mobile equipment, locks/tags out, and removes guards, for maintenance to complete preventative maintenance and greasing

  • Ensure that communication between shifts and Austin’s control center is accurate and complete through crossover shift meetings with crew leaving/coming on shift

  • Following through and documenting any requests made by HSE, HR, or Management

  • Hold full accountability and responsibility for crew members on shift

  • Work with maintenance to understand reliability needs and to schedule plant shutdowns for preventative maintenance measures and root cause analysis

  • Responsible for Loadout and RFID tags when the internet is down and loading trucks must be done manually.

  • With the help of Plant Manager, Maintenance Manager, and Regional Plant Manager, build, update, and maintain SOPS for plant processes

  • Assigning workorders to complete tasks in the plant prioritized by safety, production, and preventative maintenance; this is coordinated through the maintenance supervisor

  • Working with leadership on project planning and execution

  • Communicate the bigger picture of what is happening at the plant during their tour or shift

  • Show ownership and responsibility; follow up with crew and ensure that tasks are communicated and completed in a timely manner

HSE Requirements and Expectations:

  • Familiar with MSHA rules and regulations and MSHA Part 46 certified

  • Responsible for ensuring Workplace Exams are completed and signed off before each shift

  • Ensure the crew has appropriate PPE and tools needed to safely complete the job

  • Incident reporting: responsible for ensuring that incident reports are completed and submitted to HSE Representative

  • Notify HSE and Plant Manager immediately following an incident or injury

  • Arrange onsite, post incident drug testing, if necessary

  • Incorporating and instilling safety talks and suggestions during shift crossover meetings

  • Task crew to find safety infractions and ways which they can mitigate any future infractions

  • Report any reasonable suspicion or violation to Drug and Alcohol policy to HR, HSE, and Plant Manager

  • LOTO Signoff

  • Safe Rack inspection

  • Job hazard analysis on work being completed in the field

  • Smoke School, oil spill cleanup, and other training

  • Stop work policy

  • Pre/Post trip and workplace exam audit and follow up

Training:

  • Manager training and success

  • Cross training with process engineering, lab, and maintenance

  • Responsible for task training

  • Software training

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED or better

  • Supervisory or leadership experience

  • Experience with sand processing, mining, or bulk material handling

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability for multi-tasking

  • Ability to read and interpret documents and data

  • Computer skills – inputting data, reading charts, using MS Office (Teams, Mail, Word, and Excel)

  • Leadership and coaching skills

  • Communicate effectively with reports and upper management

  • Solve problems and take initiative on safety and procedures

  • Written and verbal communication skills

  • Basic math skills
