Construction Foreman

Seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Construction Foreman. Candidate will perform all construction foremen duties in accordance with company standards to ensure that facilities are properly constructed which include but is not limited to concrete foundations, superstructure construction, roofing installations, general brick construction, facility interior and exterior finishes, etc. This position will be based out of Somalia. The duration of this position will be approximately one year. Any extensions are subject to customer and program direction. The duties and responsibilities herein are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

Responsibilities include:

  • Read project plans, drawings, specifications, and blueprints.

  • Manage task schedules and monitor attendance of the construction workers on site.

  • Emphasize safe use of all tools and equipment and enforce the proper use of safety gear, like helmets and goggles.

  • Construct different types of buildings using various materials such as wood, steel, concrete, brick, etc.

  • Install new builds on-site to include reinforced concrete roofing structures and installation of steel roof.

  • Participate in a variety of construction projects and follow construction plans and instructions from the supervisors.

  • Loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment.

  • Responsible for maintaining clean working environment at work site, remove debris, garbage, and dangerous materials from sites.

  • Assembling and breaking down barricades, temporary structures, and scaffolding.

  • Assisting colleagues, e.g., electricians and plumbers, as required.

  • Mixing, pouring, and leveling concrete, laying tile, reinforcement bar bending and tying, concrete pavements, installation of suspended ceilings, and painting.

  • Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are followed on construction site.

  • Carry of formwork activities for reinforced suspended slabs, columns, and beams.

  • Oversee production of concrete blocks and other prefabricated concrete units manufacturing.

Requirements – Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in a supervisory or related role.

  • Must be familiar with construction equipment and able to operate it proficiently, following instructions and working well on a team.

  • Preferred prior experience working at different construction sites to include working in austere conditions.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a variety of civil engineering and construction projects.

  • Preferred experience working in Africa.

  • Must be physically fit and healthy to execute work in an extreme hot environment.

  • Must be capable to work with multiple different cultures.

  • Must be disciplined and follow company and site supervisor procedures, regulations, and ethics code of conduct.

  • Preferred minimum five years of experience working at different construction sites to include working in austere conditions.

  • Must have experience with either construction shuttering/formwork activities, reinforcement banding and tying, carpentry works and/or blockmaking activities.

  • Construction technical certification qualifications preferred.
