SpillTech Environmental HR Generalist (Human Resources Generalist) in Mobile, Alabama

SpillTech Environmental, Inc. is seeking an HR Generalist to join our awesome, as well as fun and down to earth, administrative team! The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7am to 4pm, 8am to 5pm, or somewhere in between if you prefer, with an hour for lunch. Oh, but we like to try and leave early on some Fridays because, why not? We love our weekends! Who are we? You might say, Hmmm, I've never heard of that place .Well, s ince 1971, SpillTech has manufactured high-performance polypropylene sorbent products for industrial maintenance and spill cleanup. Okay so it's not super exciting, but it's really pretty cool. Have you ever seen an oil spill in the ocean and the snake like things floating around for clean up? That's us! Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the hiring process (mainly non-exempt) including but not limited to posting positions, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, conducting interviews, working closely with the supervisor/management teams to schedule interviews and gain feedback, scheduling drug screens, checking references, processing background checks, and working with staffing agencies when necessary and managing those relationships. Ensuring jobs are posted with state agencies for compliance with the Affirmative Action Program
  • Responsible for the onboarding process for new hires including but not limited to credentials creation through IT and management collaboration, conducting orientation, and doing employee check-in's during the first six months
  • Processes and enters new hire paperwork through various mediums and with various providers and ensures correctness on vendor billing statements as well as removal when termination occurs
  • Processes I-9, E verify, and state new hire entries
  • May help process COBRA paperwork until COBRA vendor is in place
  • Creates time entry credentials with employees and assists employees with ADP timekeeping issues (passwords, etc.)
  • Responsible for entering employment applications into the Affirmative Action Applicant Tracking Log
  • Responsible for entering Corrective Actions into the tracking system.
  • May be required to enter time off into spreadsheets and audit several times yearly.
  • Responsible for logging occurrences and watching for Corrective Action needs.
  • Responsible for conducting Exit Interviews
  • With assistance from the office Admin Assistant and with collaboration from plant management will ensure successful employee events/functions
  • In the future there may be a need to travel to other branches from time to time (Currently Texas, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business with a concentration in Human Resources, or a bachelor's degree in another field with an HR Certification from either HRCI or SHRM
  • At least 2 years of successful specialist or generalist experience in the hiring process including recruiting, onboarding, orientations, and the processing of new hire paperwork.
  • At least 2 years of experience using Excel, Word, and Outlook (PowerPoint would be a plus)
  • Experience working with an Affirmative Acti n program is a plus.
  • Experience planning employee functions is a plus.
  • Experience offboarding employees is a plus.
