Systems and Controls Technicians are responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on automation systems

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement automation systems to improve efficiency and productivity

Replace system equipment such as HMI, System Logic, motor drives, and Safety Logic as needed

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify improvement opportunities

Manage system software, controls, drives, and module projects from conception to completion

Perform routine maintenance and preventative testing on automation systems and motor controls

Read, troubleshoot, and repair equipment wiring according to OEM schematics

Provide backup support to Plant Maintenance Technicians, as needed

Situations may arise that require employees to temporarily or permanently assume responsibility for tasks not specifically outlined in this job description. Employees may be requested to work additional hours and/or accommodate a heavier than normal work load.

Qualifications

Degree in SCADA, electronics and controls, or related field, preferred

Experience in automation technology and project management in a manufacturing environment; Studio 5000 preferred

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Knowledge of safety procedures including but not limited to: lockout tagout, confined space entry, line opening, fall protection, and hot work

Accurately read and understand signs, labels, warnings, directions, operator manuals, service manuals, and wiring schematics associated with the maintenance and/or operation of instruments and equipment

Effectively communicate with supervisors and co-workers and follow written and/or verbal instructions

Tolerance of varying environmental conditions heat, cold, and/or wet and slippery conditions

Occasionally lift up to 60 lbs. from floor to waist level

Frequently bend at the waist and/or knees

Ability to stand for long periods of time up to 10-12 hours a day

Ability to distinguish colors (i.e., wire codes)

Ability to work additional hours on short notice to fill in for an absent co-worker, accommodate a heavier than normal workload, or to assist with special projects
