HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO

The cement Plant in Mitchell, IN. is looking for someone who is hardworking and dedicated to becoming part of the team. This position reports directly to the Quarry Manager and will be responsible for all aspects of the limestone quarry operation for the cement manufacturing plant to accommodate present and future production schedules, quarry expansion, new quarry development, and regulatory compliance.

The Quarry Supervisor's duties will include the following:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the quarry on shift to ensure production of suitable limestone in appropriate quantities and chemistry.

  • Ensure maximum utilization and performance of mobile and stationary equipment at lowest cost.

  • Responsible for crushing plant equipment failure analysis and ensure timely and efficient repairs utilizing maintenance and departmental personnel.

  • Ensure production requirements are met or exceeded in compliance with environmental and MSHA regulations

  • Initiate and follow through on stationary and mobile equipment improvements and maintenance needs.

  • Work closely with all supporting departments to ensure maximum production within quality specifications in a safe and cost-effective manner.

  • Assess training needs of employees and recommend or provide appropriate training

  • Ensure employees follow safe work practices and procedures to reduce incident case rate with no lost time injuries.

  • Administer the collective bargaining agreement and controls absenteeism and overtime.

  • Facilitate departmental and safety meetings

  • Supervise contract workers and maintenance projects as required.

  • Participate in the planning and execution of the annual shutdown as it pertains to mobile and stationary quarry equipment.

  • Complete assigned work and follow all Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements.

This position will be based in Mitchell, IN.

HERE'S WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Prior proven supervisory and leadership experience

  • Ability to make timely, critical decisions, often under conditions of uncertainty and stress

  • Heavy mobile equipment operating and maintenance knowledge.

  • Problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Understand SAP maintenance and inventory software systems.

  • Proficient with windows-based PC software.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining, Geology, or another similar field preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cement manufacturing or related industry in quarry operations preferred

  • Prior experience with MSHA and related regulatory agencies preferred.

  • Solid understanding of quarry operation and blasting requirements preferred.

  • Understanding of the chemistry of raw mix, clinker, and cement preferred.

Work Environment

  • Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions.
