Pay range: $30-45/hour, depending on experience.

THIS IS A FULL TIME TRAVELING POSITION

Hotels and per diem will be provided.

Position Summary

Repairs and maintains heavy construction, Rail-bound and other company equipment, including but not limited to dump trucks, cranes, and backhoes. Performs work in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications, company standards and safety standards.

This position requires approximatley 30% travel. Lodging and per diem will be provided.

  • Safety oriented, Self-motivated and positive attuite and ability to learn.

  • Diesel and gas engine basic knowledge and ability to trouble shoot.

  • Strong hydraulic systems back ground. Pumps, motors, valves, and hoses.

  • Strong 12-24 Volt electrical systems.

  • Strong drive train, fluid and mechanical, chain drives and gear systems.

  • Strong welding, Arc, and mig experience. fabrication and repair.

  • Mechanic to provide quality tools up to ¾ drive.

    Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

    • Operates and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures.

• Tests mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.

• Dismantles and reassembles heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.

• Adjusts and repairs ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic and steering systems.

• Maintains and repairs chassis, frames and bodies.

• Repairs and maintains diesel and gasoline engines.

• Maintains and repairs, batteries, brakes and valves.

• Assists with inspections and safety checks.

• Works with hoisting and jacking equipment, power tools, measuring instruments, gauges and meters.

General/Other Responsibilities and Duties

• Travels to field locations to provide repairs or maintenance.

• Prepares detailed maintenance and repair records.

Qualifications

• Ideally 5+ years and/or combined with vocational training on diesel equipment and mechanical repair of construction equipment.

• A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record and pass a drug test.

• Ability to read and understand procedural instructions, manuals, hydraulic and electric diagrams.

• Ability to keep accurate records.

• Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions.

• Ability to meet deadlines.

• Ability to work in shop and field environments

• Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed.

• Skilled in Microsoft Office suite preferred (Outlook, Excel, Word)

Physical Requirements

• Works both indoors and outdoors.

• Frequently performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as standing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, reaching and handling of materials, equipment and tools.

• Uses hands and fingers to operate equipment and tools involved in repairs.

• Lifts, pushes, pulls, and carries heavy objects, machinery and tools up to 50 pounds.

• Works around vehicles and machinery with moving parts.

• Exposed to exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.

• May be exposed to harsh weather conditions.

• May be exposed to loud noise.
