Position: Marketing Manager – Premium Pet Food (12-month contract)

Location: Mississauga, ON located at 500 Royal Windsor Dr, Mississauga ON L5J 1K8; Hybrid

Position Summary

We are looking for a Marketing Manager, Premium Pet Food based at our Purina office in Mississauga reporting into the Portfolio Category Manager, Widely Distributed Dry Food & Wet Dog Food. This role will lead the strategic roadmap for a portfolio of beloved brands and is a fantastic opportunity to help develop and execute marketing plans.

A day in the life of a Marketing Manager

As a Marketing Manager you will be working on our exciting premium pet food portfolio, including Beneful, Dog Chow, Cat Chow, Friskies and our gateway brands Puppy Chow and Kitten Chow. This role is a great opportunity to lead brand plans and strategy to bring growth to the category. You will be working daily with cross-functional teams to make your plans come to life with lots of autonomy and support to really thrive.

You will also:

  • Lead the development and implementation of business reviews and brand plans, identifying key category and consumer insights and strategies to build competitive advantage.

  • Oversee the launch of product innovations and renovations through collaboration with cross functional teams, and own marketing deliverables including validating concepts, claims and packaging designs.

  • Build Brand through translation of insights to action. Responsible for creating compelling communication and effective media strategies, including the plan to lead in digital.

  • Accountable for improving the Return of Investment year over year and spend accuracy.

What will make you successful?

As the successful candidate, you will be the champion for these brands throughout the organization so you will need to be passionate, tenacious, results focused and really enjoy working in a highly energetic and exciting environment. You will already have great project management and analytical skills coupled with your highly organised, conscientious approach. Pro-activity, tenacity and enthusiasm are essential, as is your ability to understand and work within our competitive market. Your already developed marketing experience as a Marketing Manager or Assistant Marketing Manager will give you the experience you need to drive this business. You will also have:

  • A University degree in Business or Marketing, and or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 4-5 years of successful brand/product management experience, including leading agency teams.

  • Innovative and strategic thinking skills with experience championing strategic business plans.

  • Agility to pivot in a fast paced ever changing environment, comfortable taking calculated risks and doing things differently to carve a new way forward.

  • Analytical experience in consumer-packaged goods with NielsenIQ Discover/Answers.

  • Passion to build and grow brands, with a ‘can-do’ attitude and a willingness to challenge the status quo
