Staff Accountant Job Summary:

This position will support the department by assisting with monthly financial closes, quarterly financial reporting, tax reporting, and internal and external audits.

Staff Accountant Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the close and consolidation of Nidec Minster and its US and foreign subsidiaries, including preparing necessary journal entries; preparing monthly account reconciliations, including intercompany transactions; and preparing supporting schedules.

  • Manage fixed asset records, including construction in process projects; prepare depreciation journal entries; and perform asset observations.

  • Assist with corporate insurance renewal process.

  • Perform ad hoc accounting duties as needed for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and cost accounting.

  • Compile and analyze financial data for required federal, state, and local tax reporting.

  • Prepare documentation for internal and external audits.

  • Research and interpret accounting data as part of required analysis and in response to inquiries.

  • Consistently evaluate business processes to identify and implement process improvements with existing and new systems and technology.

  • Collaborate with other Accounting and Finance team members and other members of the organization on various internal and cross-functional projects.

    Staff Accountant Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting

  • 1-2 years post-graduate and/or internship experience in a similar role, preferably with some experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Must be detail oriented, extremely accurate and have exceptional organizational skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with intermediate Excel skills

  • Self-starter with high performance standards

  • Preferred, but not required:

  • Modern global ERP system experience (SAP, Oracle, etc.)

  • Familiarity with IFRS accounting regulations
