Quentin Burdick Job Corps Center (Human Learning Systems, LLC) Cook in Minot, North Dakota

The Cook provides support for a U.S. Department of Labor Job Corps contractor. The Job Corps program is a federally-funded residential training program. The mission of Job Corps is to provide career-ready technical and basic skills (academic) training and job placement assistance to program eligible youth ages 16-24.

Summary of Duties: The Cook position isresponsible for coordinating meal preparation, supervises kitchen and cafeteria activities, and keeps a clean and safe environment.

Description of Duties:

  • Prepares food in accordance with the planned menu.
  • Prepares food in large quantities.
  • Ensures proper storage of usable and non-usable leftovers.
  • Ensures the maintenance and proper temperature for both hot and cold food items.
  • Keeps assigned work areas well organized and clean.
  • Cleans, mops, and empties waste when assigned or as needed.
  • Handles food in a sanitary manner, including receipt, preparation, and storage.
  • Maintains food temperature records.
  • Maintains equipment logs.
  • Maintains daily usage logs.
  • Records the number of meals served at each mealtime and documents the number of staff and visitors.
  • Assures proper equipment use and maintenance.
