Job Description:

PARAMEDIC - CRITICAL CARE TRANSPORT

JOB SUMMARY

The Critical Care Transport Paramedic works under the direction of the medical director and supervision of transport management is responsible for providing safe and the highest quality patient-centered care to critically ill or injured patients from all age groups. This individual will deliver patient care in a variety of settings including, scenes, interfacility transport, and hospital. The Critical Care Transport Paramedic practices at a professional level that serves to build and maintain relationships with hospital departments, referring organizations, and 911 services in order to promote integrated delivery systems.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Graduate of an EMT-P training course or related courses.

Preferred/Optional: Graduate of an EMT-P training course. Associate’s degree in related field.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required: One year of EMS experience. Demonstrated critical thinking skill, communication, and interpersonal skills in highly stressful environment. Demonstrated knowledge of emergency vehicles and traffic laws and operations.

Preferred/Optional: Three years of Critical Care experience and experience as a paramedic.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required:

  • Paramedic license awarded by the state of Wisconsin.

  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license as verified through appropriate licensing agency. Must meet the driving requirements and criteria acceptable to MCHS's insurer.

  • Critical Care Paramedic Certification awarded by the State of WI within one year of hire and eligibility to take course for experienced paramedics or within three years for new paramedics.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of hire.

  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within six months of hire.

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) by AAP within six months of hire.

  • Emergency Vehicle Operations Certification (EVOC), Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO), or Emergency Vehicle Driver Training (EVDT) within two years of hire.

  • Emergency Vehicle Operations Certification (EVOC), Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO), or Emergency Vehicle Driver Training (EVDT) at the time of hire.

Preferred/Optional:

  • State of WI Critical Care Paramedic Certification at time of hire.

  • FP-C or CCP awarded by the (IBSC) within at time of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.

  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification at time of hire.

  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification at time of hire.

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) by AAP at time of hire.

  • S.T.A.B.L.E. certification at time of hire.

  • Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C) or Critical Care Paramedic Certification (CCP) awarded by the International Board of Specialty Certification (IBSC) within two years of hire.

  • Emergency Vehicle Operations Certification (EVOC), Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO), or Emergency Vehicle Driver Training (EVDT) at the time of hire.
