We are currently seeking a Transportation/Distribution Supervisor to supervise assigned drivers and related activities at the Kemps dairy plant in Minneapolis, MN. In this role you will identify and implement effective and timely solutions to transportation and distribution routing and delivery opportunities. Develop and promote safety, customer service, and operational excellence. Shift: 1st Monday-Friday; Core hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide daily work direction to professional drivers to ensure safe and efficient operations and to meet customer requirements; maintain daily activity assignments of tractors, trailers, trucks, and drivers. Monitor daily activity to make necessary adjustments in load assignments, special delivery, or pick-up instructions while effectively communicating with members, customers, drivers, dispatch, and/or DFA transportation or distribution locations. Maintain up-to-date copies of routes; manage the utilization of routing software to increase route efficiency, lower cost, and meet customer demands. Create employee schedules, approve time, resolve timekeeping issues, monitor overtime, and take appropriate actions to meet established goals. Ensure compliance with any DOT regulations; keep informed of regulatory and logistical issues. Ensure all daily paperwork associated with each load is properly completed. This may include trip information to provide mileage information for reports to DOT, driver vehicle inspection and driver logs (as appropriate), repair/maintenance activity, billing activity, delivery tickets, etc. Ensure compliance with all regulatory (OSHA, DOT, EPA) requirements. Ensure employees achieve performance expectations through training/coaching; routine driver audits or observations for safety; operational efficiency; compliance requirements (Pasteurized Milk Ordinance, Department of Transportation (DOT); and annual reviews. Be available to respond to emergencies or other unexpected operational requirements (i.e., nights, weekends, or holidays). Participate in on-call rotation if applicable. High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred in business, supply chain/logistics or related field preferred. A minimum of 4+ years of distribution, logistics, and/or transportation experience is required. Experience in DSD (direct store delivery) is strongly desired. A minimum of 2 years supervising drivers is required. Regulatory knowledge in applicable federal, state, and local guidelines (DOT, OSHA, DMV). Computer systems experience in routing software, GPS systems, routing optimization and handheld computers (ASN, SBT, Scanning and other store receiving platforms) and cameras (Samsara experience preferred). Computer proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook. Must be able to pass all pre-employment screens (including drug, criminal, driving record). Possess a current Class A CDL license or be willing to obtain one.
