City Of Minneapolis-Human Resources Temporary Boards and Commissions Project Coordinator in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Position Description The Office of City Clerk is looking to fill one (1) temporary Boards and Commissions Project Coordinator position. This position will implement process improvements and reforms to the City's volunteer-based boards and advisory committees. This will involve implementation of a training program and others resources for employees assigned to support advisory boards. The Boards and Commissions Project Coordinator shall plan and conduct regular orientation programs for newly appointed board members. This work will involve collaboration with elected officials, board members and staff, Attorney's Office, and Clerk's Office staff. Work Location - This position will primarily report onsite Monday through Friday during business hours. It may be eligible for flexible work arrangements at a later date. Job Duties and Responsibilities Represent the project/program on multi-department or inter-agency task forces, committees, and related organizations. Coordinate partnership activities with both external and internal stakeholders that help achieve the goals of the project or program. Supervise planning, development, and implementation of programs including development of standards, regulations and appraisal systems. Provide leadership in development and delivery of outreach and educational programs and materials. Hire, train, supervise, review and evaluate the work of Staff. Manage financial functions related to large scale billings and intake of revenue. Prepare and make presentations to groups, citizens, elected officials, staff, and act as a liaison regarding project/program activities. Supervise and participate in developing proposals, revision to rules, regulations, ordinances, and other formal documentation for the review and approval of elected officials, and other governing bodies. Provide staff supervision ensuring quality and efficiency of work efforts. Develop and administer budgets and contracts. Manage operational activities of the program or project, including record keeping, computer applications, grantor reporting, etc. Participate in and supervise others engaged in grant seeking and grant proposal development. Manage and maintain formal monitoring systems to ensure compliance with standards. Oversee the collection and organization of information for reports, case studies, and other documentation related to the project or program managed. Manage financial functions related to large scale billings and intake of revenue in the form of credit card, cash or check. Ensure compliance of city and state retention requirements for all documents related to the programs managed by the position. Create and maintain standard operating procedures for all business lines within the section. WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office setting Required Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or equivalent. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE Three years performing duties similar to those described above. Selection Process The selection process will consist of one or more of the following steps: a rating of relevant education and experience (100%). Only those candidates who attain a passing score (70%) on each step in the selection process will be placed on the eligible list. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good knowledge of public administration. Knowledge of supervisory techniques and the ability to effectively delegate work. Developed writing skills and knowledge of contract and grant proposal preparation. Ability to read and interpret official specifications, regulations, ordinances, etc. Good analytical skills. Strong verbal communication skills. Knowledge of budget development and management.
