Courses taught could include the following at both the undergraduate and graduate levels: IT/IS in organizations, Financial Information Systems and Technologies, Business Process Excellence, Enterprise Systems, etc. Courses are offered during the day as well as evenings and Saturdays. Duties and responsibilities include course materials preparation (i.e. syllabus, handouts, homework assignments, quizzes, exams, etc.); textbook selection, course delivery, evaluation of students, record keeping, management/supervision of teaching assistants, office hours, etc. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Teaching Specialist: Bachelor's degree plus 3 years experience in a closely related field. Sr. Teaching Specialist: Bachelor's degree plus 6-8 years experience in a closely related field of which 4 or more years must be formal teaching. Lecturer: Terminal degree or Master's degree plus 5 years of related industry and/or academic experience. Sr. Lecturer: Terminal degree plus 10 years of related industry and/or academic experience, or Master's degree plus 15 years of related industry and/or academic experience. Preferred Qualifications: Previous college-level teaching experience is preferred at all levels. About the Department The University of Minnesota is well known as one of the founding schools for the MIS discipline and is home to the MIS Quarterly. New faculty hires will also benefit from the research and outreach activities of the Management Information Systems Research Center. The department has 17 tenured/tenure-track faculty. The department teaches courses and performs research in all areas of the information systems discipline including IT/IS in organizations, economics of IS, design and management of systems, individual and organizational decision support, knowledge management, social media, and business analytics. The department is home to the MS-Business Analytics program, which offers both full and part time study. The department has introduced a new minor in business analytics at the undergraduate level beginning fall 2017. There is an active doctoral program in information systems with 11 students in residence.
