Fairview Health Services Senior Windows Server Engineer in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Overview

The Senior Windows Server Engineer role is responsible for leading efforts to install, administer, and optimize Microsoft Windows servers and related components to achieve and maintain high performance of business applications. This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment. Scope of responsibilities include server hardware, Windows Server operating systems, core Microsoft back-office technologies, and 3rd party infrastructure software and applications.

Responsibilities Job Description

  • Perform at Subject Matter Expertise level, to manage, maintain, monitor, and support the infrastructure environment. Install, configure, and support hardware and software required to operate assigned technology.

  • Collaborate with 3 rd Party Vendors to champion changes within Infrastructure environments. Ability to collaborate with team and drive towards new solutions, bringing in team members to help support new solutions and create documentation and run books.

  • Provide ongoing maintenance including updates, patches, and anti-virus updates. Troubleshoot and resolve issues in assigned technology including hardware, software, operating system, and application-related issues.

  • Conduct performance monitoring, system health checks, trending analysis and capacity planning. Analyze system performance metrics and make recommendations for solutions to issues.

  • Manage assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with project timelines. Develop and maintain documentation related to technology installation.

  • Oversee the maintenance of relevant hardware and software at current levels of support by applying patches and updates as recommended.

  • Provide technical leadership and consultation on design, development, and implementation of Windows server-based systems. Engineer Windows server solutions that include integration, data storage, retention and disaster recovery planning for business-critical applications and functions

  • Coach and mentor staff regarding technology, methodologies, and standards. Proactively share knowledge and collaborate with IT teams to ensure quick and effective responses to customer needs. Partner with leadership to evaluate and prioritize work efforts.

  • Stay current with new emerging technologies and industry research to identify opportunities to leverage new technologies and improve processes.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related field, or combination of equivalent experience / education

  • 3 or more years of Windows System Administration experience

  • 2 or more years of Windows Engineering experience, including level-3 design and solutioning

  • 5 or more years of experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, and associated tools)

  • 2 or more years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).

  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and associated technologies (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, RDS)

  • Hardware experience with HPE, UCS, and Nutanix server platforms

  • Proficiency in scripting with PowerShell or Ansible

  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem resolution, and analytical skills

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Azure Fundamental (AZ-900)

  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MSP)
