This role can be remote based or located in Bloomington, MN. In this newly created position, you will be responsible for providing leadership, oversight and governance for all aspects of Sanitation, Hygienic Design and Integrated Pest Management while assuring compliance with company policies, FDA, USDA, state, and local regulatory requirements. You will be a key member of the enterprise leadership team and will help influence senior management on alignment of strategies, annual objectives, and project plans. Extensive travel will be required, 50 – 75%. Responsibilities: + Provide leadership and technical expertise in engaging all company manufacturing facilities and storage locations in the development of an overall sanitation strategy including SOP’s, Environmental Monitoring, Allergen Management, Hygienic Zoning, Food Safety System Verification and Auditing. + Develop and deploy SOP’s, master sanitation schedules, cleaning practices and methods, including the selection and use of cleaning chemicals and the development and delivery of training materials. + Strategically partners with FSQ, Operational Excellence and Manufacturing leaders to optimize our sanitation effectiveness programs and collaborates with engineering to ensure consistent execution of our hygienic and sanitary design standards. + Leads the hygienic design program and works effectively with engineering and equipment suppliers to ensure all new/modified equipment project installations meet or exceed company sanitary design standards. Seeks new sanitation technologies that will drive improved effectiveness and efficiency in sanitation. + Serves as liaison to applicable 3rd party sanitation providers at a leadership level. Work to expand existing third-party sanitation relationships to help deliver improved effectiveness and efficiency. Partners with Food Safety, Plant and Sanitation leaders, and Sourcing to review and evaluate cleaning chemical supplier’s performance including services offered. + Directs the development of long-term sanitation strategy and lead implementation of strategic initiatives. Establishes a sanitation culture of the sanitation process being the first step to every successful production cycle. + Provides strategic & technical direction on CIP & COP cleaning systems operation, trouble-shooting, and continuous improvement. + Ensures that all sanitation standards and hygienic design standards are following all appropriate regulations (USDA/FDA) + Directs pest elimination management programs and ensure all facilities and warehouses comply with corporate pesticide chemical applications, usages, and procedural requirements. Possesses knowledge and identification of behavioral aspects of food plant pests. + Leads Sanitation as a business initiative across the enterprise in order to identify opportunities for improvement for the company to achieve established business results. + Partners cross-functionally with leaders to design and implement succession planning and leadership development strategies. + Develops and leads employee/skill development through formal training programs and coaching. Preferred Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Biology, Food Science or Microbiology. + 10 plus years related experience in sanitation and pest control. + Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in food manufacturing with demonstrated experience/achievements in Sanitation systems and programs. + Must have strong food safety and microbiology background in relation to integrated pest management, pathogen and allergen control, spoilage and plant sanitation including knowledge of sanitary and hygienic design. + Demonstrated experience, strength, and in-depth knowledge of Environmental Monitoring programs within the food industry. + Demonstrated experience, strength, and in-depth knowledge of sanitation, pest control and plant manufacturing systems. + Thorough knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, food manufacturing sanitation standards. + Ability to partner with many diverse groups including Plant Operations, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, sanitation vendors, third-party auditors, and other technical organizations/associations to effectively manage issues and operational savings opportunities within the Plant sanitation programs. + Advanced level of analytical thinking communication skills. High degree of intellectual curiosity with outstanding organizational and time management skills. + Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaborate with others.
