The Regional Process Controls Engineer will also lead small capital related and expense projects for the sites, achieving stated results on time and within budget. In addition, this position will help lead TPM continuous improvement efforts through the support of multiple pillars. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Partner with Corporate Engineering, Research and Development and Plant Operations Teams to develop and implement Automation and Controlled Manufacturing Processes. Identify new or innovative solutions or industry best practices to improve manufacturing operations. Learn and lead implementations of new controls and automation technologies, often resulting in being the technology Subject Matter Expert (SME). Provide technical support to all operations to assist in trouble shooting and diagnosing issues related to Programmable Logic Controllers and Ignition/HMI programs. Works with peers to assure adherence to management of change (MOC) to deploy standard control schemes within the region and across the network. Provide electrical, controls and automation support to plant process, packaging and utility operations. Lead small capital and expense projects for facilities in partnership with local site Operations Leadership Teams Identifies and captures opportunities for reliability, performance and cost improvement. Develop, implement and monitor automation and control strategies and system architecture for the facility. Review designs and proposals by others, and to ensure adherence to network strategies and Owens Corning specifications. Follow, enforce and continuously improve safe work practices, rules, regulations, procedures, training, and initiatives. Support Site Operations Leaderships teams in system and equipment troubleshooting and in technology transfer Train maintenance technicians and operators on new technologies to assure the equipment operates as specified allow for proper operations, maintenance and trouble shooting Enhance maintenance processes through equipment and systems analysis to identify opportunities for equipment or process modification, equipment replacement, or application of new technology Actively develop and implement cost savings initiatives involving waste minimization, productivity improvements and other process optimization opportunities through an active partnership with the sites' maintenance and operation teams. Participate in Break Down Analysis process (as required) and create One Point Lessons to facilitate efficient knowledge transfer. Develops and executes Preventive and Predictive Maintenance strategies for controls and related equipment. Improves the reliabi ity of the control systems through preventative and predictive maintenance and capital improvements. Support and adhere to Reliability Work Process (RWP). JOB REQUIREMENTS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent training, knowledge, and experience 3+ years of Automation and controls engineering experience in a plant, corporate engineering or related experience in a manufacturing environment Strong knowledge of PLC based controls and HMI applications (Ignition) with emphasis on Allen-Bradley including PLC programming proficiency Communicator (explainer, good listener) PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Leadership - lead project teams and/or contractors Strategist (well organized, prioritizes) Developer of talent (mentor, coach, guide) Ability to write procedures Project scheduling skills Must have strong troubleshooting skills Knowledge of practical application of OSHA, NFPA, and ANSI standards AC and DC motor and drive systems, specifically Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Equipment evaluation and selection experience Data Historian experience (Ignition and/or IP21 platforms) Upgrading legacy control systems (PLC's and HMI's) to current technologies General knowledge of TPM and maintenance processes About Owens Corning Owens Corning is a global building and construction materials leader committed to building a sustainable future through material innovation.
