KEY RESULT AREAS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) Develop relationships with suppliers: solicit bids, analyze quotations, interview prospective suppliers, and select suppliers. Work with manager to develop profitable purchasing strategies. Prepare and implement effective negotiation tactics. Create and maintain catalogs for each supported operating group. Purchase items and services at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements, and other factors. Propose purchase transactions that higher authority approve prior to final action. Analyze individual markets, handle budget, and increase margin on a regular basis, track trends in purchasing habits. Evaluate suppliers. Train project teams to effectively utilize procurement system. Arrange returns for unacceptable products to suppliers. Track order status from time of placing order until delivery and communicate status to project teams. Enter purchase orders, retain contact with suppliers to ensure delivery of material on a timely basis. Visit project site or operating group quarterly at a minimum to better understand their challenges and educate them on procurement so that streamlined processes can be implemented. Lead special projects for team as requested. Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of Construction processes, equipment, and materials, purchasing processes and procedures. Negotiating, organizing, planning, verbal, and communication skills. Strong customer service and analytical skills. Software experience. Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback. Ability to travel up to 30%. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing field. Current driver's license.
