PRIMARY OBJECTIVE To manufacture low volume iterative sheet metal assemblies using various manufacturing processes while adhering to set safety & quality standards in a product development setting. Duties and responsibilities: Cutting, forming, and welding of mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum Helps to identify manufacturing practices to reduce cost and improve design Sets up and perform MIG/TIG welding applications Uses grinders / sanders to remove weld spatter and applies surface prep for paint Communicates challenges to department Supervisor and engineering team members Uses PC to access part drawings and CAD models as needed Works well with team members and shares knowledge to collectively problem solve Uses part nesting software and performs cutting operations on laser Sets up and operates 175 & 90 ton press brakes Drives forklifts and PIT vehicles to transfer parts & raw materials as needed Assists in other areas of the Product Development Lab based on workload Submits requests for raw materials & consumable items as needed Required Skills: Ability to problem solve Strong analytical skills Strong print reading and inspection skills Strong understanding of raw materials both ferrous and non-ferrous Must pass onsite weld test and possess a desire to grow skillset using various technologies within the lab (ie; machining, urethane molding, 3D printing) Ability to concentrate on tasks, make decisions, and work calmly & effectively in a deadline driven environment Must be flexible to work overtime as needed and adjust to a changing work environment Ability to build and maintain positive relationships both in and outside of the department Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information Ability to work independently and prioritize workflow to support new product phased initiatives Must be detail oriented and display above average communication skills Must be able to routinely lift up to 40lbs Ability to operate forklift and PIT vehicles Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent 8-10 years related work experience Experience in operations and/or product development preferred Begin your journey with us.
