The Minnesota Veterans Home-Minneapolis is looking for a full-time Plant Maintenance Engineer Lead position. This position provides lead work to power plant staff. This position will also assist in ensuring the proper operation and maintenance of the power plant at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis.

The Minneapolis Home is located on Minnehaha Avenue, which has connecting highways and public transportation options for an easy commute. The beautiful 53-acre wooded campus includes mature oak and pine trees, nature trails and biking paths overlooking the Mississippi River.

Minimum Qualifications

To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume/application clearly describes your experience in the areas listed below, and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.

  • Current Minnesota Chief C Engineer License or higher.

  • Experience in mechanical, electrical, HVAC and energy management system maintenance and repair, steam and hot water heating and associated apparatus including refrigeration systems.

  • Experience working with electric power equipment.

  • Leadership skills sufficient to provide leadwork direction that includes prioritizing and assigning job duties, directing, guiding and reporting on work activities of other staff.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the operation and maintenance of high- and low-pressure steam vessels, HVAC equipment, Building automation equipment and software.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the generation and transmission of electric power.

  • Knowledge of the safety standards and the ability to establish and maintain accident prevention practices.

  • Knowledge of essential building codes, regulations and other licensing requirements that apply to the Minnesota Veterans Home.

  • Ability to train and coach staff.

  • Ability to problem solve and find solutions to difficult and challenging situations.

  • Experience using electronic work system software, such as Archibus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in providing lead work direction to other employees, preferably experience in leading licensed and unlicensed trades employees.
