The primary responsibility for the person filling this position will be to actively recruit participants in two MCTFR protocols: COMN-PATHS and ITR. In this capacity, this person will also be charged with ensuring relevant training manuals are up to date. While this position will not have direct supervisory responsibilities, the individual filling this position will work to develop ways to evaluate remote recruitment work and supervise undergraduate research assistants with study responsibilities. The person filling this position will work closely with MCTFR researchers and other recruiters, so outstanding communication and organizational skills are essential. Job Responsibilities: (75%) Recruitment - Recruit participants in existing MCTFR protocols and manage their progression through a research protocol: - - - Contact and encourage current and potential new research participants to engage in a research protocol, which may consist of an in-person visit, a videoconference interview, an online questionnaire, the collection of biospecimens (e.g., saliva, blood), neurocognitive testing, and brain scans. - - - Schedule research participants' visits and arrange associated logistical support (e.g., payment, parking, lodging) - - - Electronically track the progress of research participants through the study protocol, identifying potential bottle-necks. - - - Understand the scientific goals and significance of the study and have the ability to explain those goals to participants and others in ways that they will understand and find it engaging. - Ensure goals related to ethics, rigor, and scientific validity are adhered to in recruiting. - Ensure recruitment training manuals and documentation are up to date. - Train new recruiters on relevant MCTFR IT systems including but not limited to MIRANDA, IS, PERSON, TYSK, RECRUITMENT NOTES. - Provide training in recruitment record keeping for all active protocols. - Train RAs on contact mailing process. Ensure compliance of team members with protocols. (25%) Administration - Data entry/management (update databases, edit monthly birth records, monitor participant incentive inventory). Ensure accuracy and integrity of records. - Request participant payments in Greenphire. - Track ITR recruitment progress, create reports for Principal Investigators (PIs) regarding progress and achievement of recruitment goals. Make recommendations to PIs on strategies to ensure and improve recruitment. Qualifications Required Qualifications: - BA/BS plus at least 2 years of experience in a unit funded by sponsored awards or a combination of education and work experience to equal six years; - First-hand knowledge of MCTFR recruitment procedures and relevant information and record keeping systems. - Requires working on evenings and weekends; - Comfortable communicating with people and persuading individuals to participate in research; - Experience maintaining production databases, including REDCAP. Preferred Qualifications: - Prior experience recruiting human subjects in a longitudinal or clinical trial research; - Ability to empathically connect with twins and family members, and understand their needs and concerns; - Knowledge of research ethics and IRB rules and policies concerning the recruitment of research subjects; - Knowledge of research design and methods commonly used in psychology or epidemiology; - Organizational, time-management, decision-making and problem solving skills; - Team leadership skills; - Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion About the Department About the MCTFR The Minnesota Center for Twin and Family Research has assembled a nationally recognized team of researchers whose mission is: To understand vulnerability to negative mental and physical health outcomes, and related behavioral problems such as substance use disorders.
