Position Summary

Provide management and expertise to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll HR and benefits transactional work in a multi-state and multi-company environment. Manages and leads payroll processing and ensures the accurate and timely processing of payroll in support of business requirements, goals and objectives. Oversees the functions to meet legal and contractual requirements with multiple bargaining agreements, tax and benefit regulations and company policies. Act as a resource for cross-functional teams and business areas on payroll and benefit delivery to ensure on-going data integrity and compliance with federal and state regulations. Focuses on continuous improvement and the implementation of best practices. Provide work direction and performance management to payroll and data management staff.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide overall payroll operations expertise in Human Resources. This includes ensuring the delivery of payroll processing and services in an accurate, timely and cost competitive manner. Manages a complex, multi-state payroll that includes bargaining, hourly, and exempt. Responsible for analysis and calculation related to executive compensation plans and transactions. Makes quality decisions based on judgment, technical, analytical, system, and benefits knowledge. Analyze payroll processes in order to implement process improvements.

  • Manage staff to meet daily operational needs and the achievement of project and initiative goals. Assign workload and establish priorities on a regular basis. Identifies underlying problems and patterns; gathers relevant information; thoroughly investigates issues and transactions when necessary.

  • Develop a cohesive and motivated team that meets the customers' needs through effective coaching and mentoring. Responds to and resolves staff and customer questions and concerns. Manage employee on-boarding, training, performance and development through the use of corporate policies and procedures. Sets expectations for performance improvements related to quality, quantity, and documentation.

  • Participate in the ownership of the HRMS and time collection systems. Actively partners cross-functionally in the design, functionality, and effectiveness of the payroll module and time collection. Manages staff to provide enhancements, security, testing and problem resolution during system upgrades, as well as routine maintenance and constant review and analysis of applicable data; and assist with internal and external audits to ensure programs are administered in compliance with applicable policies, program provisions, laws and regulations.

  • Solve complex problems and participate in complex special projects that may include developing new procedures and training others on the new procedures. Coordinate training to ensure payroll and data management staff has knowledge of job expectations, including transactions and timing. Oversee the coordination, development and timely implementation of training materials/programs for new or enhanced processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with UKG

  • Experience with Workday

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or related degree/equivalent experience and 5+ years of Payroll experience including managing systems and processes or equivalent experience.

  • CPP Preferred.

  • Experience should include demonstrated expertise in continuous improvement and problem solving techniques, leadership, decision making, influence skills and customer relationship management.

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities.

  • Must be customer focused and results oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $92,300.00 to $130,567.00 per year
