Center for Energy and Environment HVAC Consultant in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Description The HVAC Consultant is a core member of the One-Stop Efficiency Shop (One-Stop) program. One-Stop delivers commercial lighting, refrigeration, and HVAC assessments and provides rebates to small and medium-sized businesses that implement recommended upgrades. This is a full-time position that provides a wide range of benefits including Paid Time Off (PTO), company vehicle, medical, dental, life and long-term disability insurance and a retirement plan. Background: CEE is a community-based clean energy nonprofit with offices in the North Loop of Minneapolis and St. Paul's Midway. We provide practical energy solutions for homes, businesses, and communities to cut energy waste and harmful emissions. Responsibilities: The HVAC Consultant will evaluate existing RTUs and other commercial HVAC equipment, diagnose issues that are reducing energy efficiency and make recommendations for efficiency upgrades. Upgrades may include, but are not limited to: Thermostat upgrades Set-point recommendations Improved economizer control ECM motors on supply and condenser fans Optimization and load management controls for roof top units (RTU) Boiler control settings and tune-up recommendations Equipment replacement and upgrades (RTU's, water heaters, boilers) The Consultant will present recommendations to owners and contractors, secure their participation in the program and serve as a liaison between the owner and contractor during installation. Responsibilities include: Assessments: Evaluate existing HVAC equipment to identify issues that are causing decreased energy efficiency or equipment that can be added to the system to increase energy efficiency Recommendations: Generate recommendations for energy efficiency upgrades based on assessment findings Reporting: Accurate and timely entry of data into custom analysis and reporting software Presentation: Present recommendations, associated project costs, rebates and savings to customer Sales: Identify leads with the best technical potential and level of interest and use sales techniques to secure program participation. Process: Create and implement a systematic follow-up process to nurture leads and create a pipeline of sold projects. Organization: Organize and plan own assessment schedule Customer service: Serve as a resource for customers and vendors during installation Meet goals: Generate sufficient participation to meet savings goals Program advancement: Continually seek opportunities to educate customers, vendors and like-minded entities on the benefits of commercial HVAC efficiency upgrades and how they can best utilize the One-Stop program Assist the smart thermostat install team with technical questions and troubleshooting Other duties as assigned Qualifications/Job Requirements: At least five years of experience evaluating commercial HVAC equipment including RTU's, boilers, and water heaters. Ability to maintain and develop a network of commercial HVAC contractors and suppliers to partner with on efficiency installs or HVAC system replacements. Ability to conduct thorough assessments on commercial HVAC equipment and fully and accurately document findings. Demonstrated knowledge of economizer testing and supply fan loading. Ability to make minor on-site adjustments to mechanical systems and educate customers on reasonings and findings. Self-motivated and goal-oriented individual with customer relations and sales skills Ability to present recommendations to business owners and motivate them to implement HVAC efficiency upgrades. Ability and willingness to quickly acquire new skills and knowledge. Ability to work independently with good organizational and time management skills Interest i new to market energy efficient technologies for commercial equipment A valid driver's license and current auto insurance Physical Requirements Ability to access all parts of existing HVAC and RTU systems, for example ability to climb a ladder to access roof top units (ladder training will be provided if needed) and to carry necessary equipment to a roof or mechanical room. Manual dexterity to effectively operate a personal computer or tablet Excellent verbal and written communications Ability to operate general office equipment, e.g., PC, printer, telephone, IPAD, etc. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time Ability to exert up to 40 pounds of force and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects Working Conditions Ability to work overtime as needed or required to meet established deadlines Ability to work in a fast paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines and program goals Ability to perform work indoors in an office environment as necessary, regardless of whether cubicle, open office or private office Ability to perform work outdoors when conditions are acceptable Comfortable working around high voltage only when proper safeties are present Compensation $35.00-$40.00/hr.
