The Systems

Engineer works as part of a cross-functional team in the development of new

transportation technology.

The ideal

candidate will leverage strong critical thinking and communication with deep

product/application knowledge – providing strong technical leadership to ensure

developed solutions satisfy product performance, quality, safety, delivery, and

cost requirements. They will drive the best business solution based

on requirements, technical readiness, and trade-offs. The candidate

must work in physical, abstract, and conceptual domains– balancing the big

picture while objectively evaluating multiple scenarios/solutions due to the

usual ambiguity of balancing future technologies with practical limits.

They will work to continuously identify, communicate, and manage risks to

ensure project and platform success.

Responsibilities

This role will

provide multi-disciplinary engineering technical leadership, utilizing systems

engineering principles, tools, processes, and technical rigor.

  • Stakeholder needs & requirements elicitation & analysis

  • System requirements definition & decomposition to subsystems/modules

  • System architecture & modular design definition

  • Interdependency identification with consideration for emergent properties

  • Concept trade-off facilitation and analysis

  • System optimization while providing a holistic perspective of the system in its operating environment

  • Technical complexity management

  • Application of MBSE (Model Based Systems Engineering) methodologies and tools

  • Utilizing modeling and simulation in development activities

  • Requirements & risk-based testing; verification & validation

  • Risk Management

  • Change Management

  • Collaboration with internal stakeholders

MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering (or similar discipline).

  • At least 5 years work experience developing complex mechanical and/or electrical systems.

  • Strong experience developing and validating multi-disciplinary product systems (integration of mechanics, hydraulics, electronics, power transmission, fluids, etc.).

  • Demonstrated technical leadership with systems-level engineering of complex mechanical/electrical systems.

  • Strong experience with requirements management, architecture definition, DFMEAs, verification, and validation.

  • Product architecture methods, functional analysis, and product family design.

  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, communication, and project management skills required.

  • Must be able to work on multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.

  • Experience with a requirements management tool

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience in refrigeration systems and components, such as engines, fans, compressors, power electronics, and control systems.

  • Understanding of transportation, off-road agricultural, construction or HVAC equipment.

  • Electrical hardware and power electronics experience.

  • A demonstrated history of innovation, e.g. patent authorship.

  • Experience with Six Sigma analysis and reporting tools: A3, 8D, Fishbone/5-whys etc.

  • Knowledgeable in Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) practices/tools, and experience in applying it to the full engineering lifecycle.

  • INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP).

  • OMG-Certified SysML Professional (OCSMP).
