As the COMPASS Special Education Instruction Specialist in the COMPASS Division, you will serve as the Special Education Lead on the COMPASS team and ensure the needs of students with disabilities are a central part of the division work and that evidence-based practices are used as the team provides guidance and support to districts, charter schools and school teams. Duties will include:
Provide research and guide the analysis of education systems through the lens of equitable access and opportunity to students with disabilities;
Lead the development of guidance, professional learning and flexible supports for the identification and removal of barriers and to build on the strengths of students with disabilities to increase access to high quality tier one instruction and layered supports.
Minimum Qualifications
5 years of professional experience teaching special education and/or leading special education programming
OR
A bachelor's degree and 4 years of professional experience teaching special education and/or leading special education programming
Experience must include:
- At least 2 years leading special education programming
Preferred Qualifications
General education teaching experience
Formal school or district leadership
Experience designing and delivering professional development
