Hirschbach Motor Lines Carrier Partner On-Site in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Carrier partnerships are essential to General Mills’ transportation strategy. Carriers may be asked to provide an on-site, at a specific revenue threshold, or as General Mills or the carrier sees value in providing one.  Although each on-site role may vary slightly based on the service offerings provided by the carrier to General Mills (Truckload, LTL, or Intermodal), the core responsibilities remain the same.

The purpose and intent of the on-site role is to not only enhance the relationship between General Mills and the Carrier, but also drive joint value through account ownership (one point of contact), increased network visibility, collaboration, strategic engagement, and through support of personal and professional development. At General Mills, the on-site is an extension of our Transportation Team. We strive to support the on-sites personal and professional development through a culture of learning, growing, fun, and belonging.

What you will be doing! 

  • Provide daily Transportation operational support to assigned facilities in the form of “exception management” through General Mills’ Transportation Management System.

  • Manage the communication between the Integrated Customer Service (ICS), E2E Logistics, GMI Plants, Customer Service Facilities (CSFs) and External Supply Chain (ESC) facilities to resolve shipment and/or Transportation operational issues. 

  • Provide on-going service management and tracking of General Mills shipments as needed.

  • Manage scorecard metrics for their company and General Mills’ business.

  • Participate in the execution of extended / 7 day (weekend) coverage to support General Mills’ transportation execution. 

    Skills and Competencies

  • Experienced in Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, Outlook.

  • Experience with a Transportation Management System preferred.

  • Strong transportation operational knowledge.

  • Consistent connection with carrier’s home office or network to maintain necessary relationships and effectively manage daily activities.

  • Develops and fosters relationships between General Mills and their carrier to keep communication lines open.

  • Able to identify, develop and implement strategies for General Mills’ growth and innovative cost solutions.

  • Develop and understand key metrics to drive action towards improvement.

  • Utilizes carrier resources to drive tactical work to the right personnel within their organization.

  • Engage in daily activities with a proactive approach.
