Job Summary

  • Develop instructional materials and conduct training for licensed and non-licensed operators at the Company's nuclear power stations.

  • An incumbent at this level should have in-depth knowledge of instructional design theory as well as hold or have held an SRO license, SRO certification, or STA certification.

  • The individual also is required to participate in rigorous technical and instructional continuing training.

  • This instructor level works on the most complex training topics and is responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, implementing and evaluating training in the main control room simulator, classroom, laboratory, and on-the-job.

  • This level also is responsible for maintaining training programs in accordance with nuclear industry, regulatory, and legal requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:

  • 13+ years related experience.

  • In depth knowledge of instructional theory and design and SAT.

  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, good personal computer, operate various instrumentation and controls, problem solving.

  • Abilities: Analyze and develop training materials, train and lead others, interface with regulatory personnel and industry peers, in-depth knowledge of plant operations and systems.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:

Bachelor

Preferred Discipline: Engineering

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred disciplines(s) listed above.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Senior Instructor Training Certification (Dominion), Certified Instructor (INPO), Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) License or Certification (NRC).

ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014, Section 4.5.4

Education requirements: High school diploma

Minimum experience for the position:

Related experience which shall include 2 yrs; Nuclear power plant experience to include 0.25 yrs. Special requirements:

1.) Shall have demonstrated knowledge of instructional techniques through training or experience and be certified as a qualified instructor for the material being presented;

2.) Instructors of licensed personnel who provide instruction on the simulator shall hold, or shall have held, a senior operator's license or have been certified for equivalent senior operator knowledge.

REFER to ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014, Section 4.1, for guidance on alternatives to degree requirements, experience substitution for education, and alternatives to experience (not allowed for Special requirements)

Note: Dominion Energy minimum requirements may exceed stated ANSI standards and candidates must meet the Dominion Energy minimum requirements.
