Key Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Performs all the functions of the D Class Welder in addition to production welding on various size weldments using all available SAW process systems.

Includes all the functions of the D Class Welder plus the below activities:

  • Receives work assignment, reviews work instructions, routings and MOP’s, secures and examines drawings to determine welding requirements such as weld location and size, post weld finishing operations, preheat and interpass requirements and type of welding consumables needed.

  • Applies all required PPE as required for the work at hand.

  • Installs proper weld wire type and diameter, and fills hopper with proper flux.

  • Positions weldment using material handling equipment on the floor, support stand or positioner, using all necessary hitching operations. Repositions weldment as required to complete all welding operations.

  • Sets up any required fall protection equipment, scaffolding, and man lift systems.

  • Sets up preheating equipment and applies and maintains the correct preheat temperature to the area to be welded

  • Positions welding head(s) and selects correct welding parameters for the weld process being used based on electrode type, shielding gas, flux, material thickness, weld joint type and position.

  • Installs run off tabs, flux retainers and additional bracing as needed.

  • Applies FCAW root passes and stringer beads as required and completes other misc. FCAW manual welding per plan. Adjusts SAW heads/torches and manipulator arm and completes all required SAW welding, post weld finishing and cleaning operations.

  • Removes any temporary run off tabs, flux retainers, bracing and misc. support equipment.

  • Cleans and inspects for proper size, appearance, and quality, makes repairs to his work and cleans surrounding area. In addition, also performs air carbon arc gouging and post weld finishing operations as required.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate well within a team structure.

  • Sub Arc Welding experience is highly preferred. Prior 3/32 flux core welding experience is a major plus..

  • Available for work approximately 40 hours per week.

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task and be flexible.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality always.

  • Team oriented background.

  • May be asked to work weekends. Ability to potentially work weekends is needed.

Additional Information

Benefits:

  • Starting wage is $31.38/hour.

  • Shift premium Available for off shift roles.

  • Vacation and personal time after 6 months of service.

  • Insurance kicks in after 75 days of service.
