Overview

Reporting to the Global Tax Reporting Senior Director, the Tax Reporting Manager is both a people and process leader on the Molson Coors’ Global Tax Team based in Milwaukee. The Tax Reporting Manager is responsible for several aspects of and delivering on our continuous commitment to follow established tax accounting processes and principles in accordance with U.S. GAAP, and specifically “ASC 740.” The Tax Reporting Manager will lead the quarterly preparation of Molson Coors’ global consolidated tax provision and key tax disclosures as presented in our public financial statements. This role will lead a team of individual contributor(s) and will have broad exposure and significant responsibility within our Tax Team. The Tax Reporting Manager will be seen as an expert intax accounting andreporting around the organization and will have meaningful collaboration with other finance functions, including Controllers, Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Treasury. Lastly, this role may be expected to support our tax compliance process, advisement of our businesses on tax matters, impact analysis of tax law changes, and management of inquiries by tax authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead existing processes and the development of new ones surrounding the preparation, review and finalization of the Company’s global income tax reporting obligations as an SEC filer, including the determination of tax expense, deferred taxes, valuation allowances and uncertain tax positions in accordance with U.S. GAAP principles, as well as accurate reporting of required tax disclosures within the 10-K, 10-Q and Earnings Release.

  • Lead the forecasting and computation of our interim period and annual effective tax rate as well as cash tax liability, [BB1] including analyzing the impact of tax initiatives, business changes, and proposed and enacted tax law, and preparing related summaries for Company leadership.

  • Serve as the Global Tax Team’s “first point of contact” and liaison with our independent audit firm by understanding review priorities and expectations, and responding to information requests.

  • Engage with senior leaders and other stakeholders on complex tax accounting matters, including the implications of changes to tax law, and accounting standards and guidance, as well as business transactions and developments.

  • Lead [BB2] the development and maintenance of effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process and support periodic control reviews performed by our Internal Audit team and our independent audit firm.

  • Grow team capabilities, foster teamwork, and coach and mentor team members through workload delegation, training, supervision and work product review.

  • Assist with [BB3] the annual tax compliance process from a preparation and review perspective as well as manage the annual “true up” processes for tax returns filed around the world and related deferred tax positions.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate must be a critical thinker who understands the importance of asking “why” and appreciates the value of challenge and diverse thought. She or he should be a “self-starter” who is able to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines within Molson Coors’ fast-moving environment and flexible hybrid work arrangement. The successful candidate must be a strong team player, capable of working successfully with Tax and cross-functional teams. She or he must be able to effectively lead an experienced team of professionals, whether directly as a people leader or indirectly as a process leader and individual contributor. The successful candidate should possess the ability to coach, mentor and develop junior team members. As the opportunity exists, a desire for increasing leadership responsibility and career advancement is important.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting

  • At least 7 years of income tax experience with a large public accounting firm or a large US corporation

  • At least 3 years of specific tax reporting and accounting experience with a large public accounting firm or large U.S.corporation with strong background in global tax reporting consolidation, deferred tax accounting, uncertain tax positions and valuation allowances

  • Demonstrated experience in U.S. federal tax compliance and tax legislation analysis

  • Desire to take accountability for results – acting with integrity and honoring commitments

  • Thirst for learning – always looking for ways to learn and help others grow

  • Appreciate a challenge – complete complex projects timely and adeptly with an understanding of business priorities

  • Experience in leading people as well as possess the ability to lead and influence others without direct authority

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with a large U.S publicly traded corporation

  • Experience with ERP systems, e.g., SAP, and Corptax software

  • Advanced experience in U.S. federal tax compliance and tax legislation analysis

  • Familiarity with tax laws and tax administration of non-U.S. jurisdictions

  • Proven experience in communicating complex tax concepts to non-tax colleagues

  • Mix of public accounting and large U.S. publicly-traded corporate experience
