In the role of Server Engineer I you will beworking in Finance and Administration POSITION PURPOSE The Research Computing Facilitator will join a growing team of specialists in the Research Computing Center (RCC), providing administration and support for computationally intensive biomedical research at MCW. RCC is responsible for installation, configuration, and management of an HPC environment including clusters, large-scale storage, and networking. As a researcher-facing role, this position will manage software installation and provide end-user support, including training and troubleshooting, for researchers conducting HPC workloads. In addition, the RC Facilitator will work directly with researchers, helping to understand workflows and encourage best-practice utilization of RCC\'s advanced computing resources. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Under supervision of the Director, Research Computing Center: * Engage with a broad set of researchers via support channels, training, and documentation. * Support user onboarding via account and group setup and new user training. * Install and test end-user requested software applications on a Linux HPC cluster. * Develop end-user documentation and training materials to support use of RCC resources. * Document user issues and make suggestions for cluster improvements. * Maintain technical relevancy through education, reading, and research. * Demonstrate initiative through expansion of technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, business knowledge, and organizational skills. * Work with team resources to meet department goals, priorities and initiatives. * Act as a resource to the RCC team in areas of expertise. * Assure standards are met for all assigned projects and service activities. * Work closely with other technology teams to meet day to day operational needs. * Provide feedback for improvements in automation and process for the RCC team.
