JOB REQUIREMENTS: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Endorsees the Philosophy and Mission of the School Sisters of St. Francis and the Philosophy of Care of Sisterhood. 2. Receives, greets, directs Sisters, staff and visitors; projects a positive image of the organization. 3. Ability to operate the multi-line telephone switchboard; directs calls or assists callers as appropriate. 4. Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of residents, employees, visitors, and other persons to maintain security of premises. 5. Ensures visitor policy (log sign-in/out, guest badges) is enforced up to and including removing people from the premises. 6. Impartially enforces rules/policies related to security measures and recognizes safety/security hazards. 7. Works with law enforcement as needed; calls police or fire departments in cases of emergency; such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons. 8. Answers alarms and investigates disturbances. 9. Circulates among visitors, patrons or employees to preserve order and protect the property. 10. Understands and operates fire alarm system and assists in all safety drills (fire/tornado/etc.). 11. Directs Sisters, staff, tenants, and visitors according to policy and procedure during emergency situations. 12. Demonstrates confidence in operating a fire extinguisher and monitoring mechanical systems of the buildings; submits work orders as needed. 13. Operates surveillance equipment to detect suspicious or illegal activities. 14. Operates and uses a two-way radio appropriately and effectively. 15. Demonstrates the ability to write clear and concise incident/security reports such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons or unusual occurrences. 16. Updates security logbook, citing incidents as they occur. 17. Organizes and prioritizes work tasks; performs duties efficiently and reacts quickly and calmly in emergency situations. 18. Carries out duties in a manner ensuring excellence. 19. Takes responsibility to ensure the highest satisfaction of Sisters, staff, tenants and visitors. 20. Handles conflict positively and appropriately, resolves issues and deficiencies when needed and seeks guidance as needed. Refers concerns as appropriate with clarity and accuracy to the Lead Security Officer, Security Officer Supervisor and/or the Facility Director when needed. 21. Communicates concerns to the appropriate person with a focus on problem-solving verses blaming. 22. Actively promotes cooperation and teamwork among peers to get the work done. 23. Approaches changes and challenges with a positive attitude that promotes teamwork in the department. 24. Participates in open communication and joint decision-making. 25. Willing to be a part of an opportunity to improve department performance and effectiveness. 26. Demonstrates the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented, communicates information and ideas so others will understand, and can recognize when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. 27. Demonstrates a welcoming atmosphere to new staff and assists is orientation to department operations. 28. Accepts coaching on issues to improve current job skills or to learn new ones. 29. Works collaboratively with other department staff in meeting the needs of the Sisters. 30. Completes assignments during allotted scheduled time. 31. Maintains a neat, well-groomed appearance following applicable dress code policy. 32. Performs other duties or assignments as requested by the Lead Security Officer, Security Officer Supervisor and/or the Facility Director. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or GED equivalent. Three (3) years of experience in the Security field, degree in Police Science or Military training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and a good working knowledge base of security operations and safety pr ctices. Must be at least 18 years of age. Valid, unencumbered State of Wisconsin Driver License. Demonstrated ability to deal with uncertainty, with objectivity and integrity.
