JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB SUMMARY: Perform the duties of a licensed pharmacist; ensures the safety and security of merchandise; ensures rigid adherence to all laws and regulations governing the sale of pharmaceuticals. Accurately reviews and interprets medication orders; prepares accurate and complete patient profiles; reviews profiles for correct drug, dosage, and route of administration; ensures that no drug duplication or drug-drug interaction exists; ensures that patient is not allergic to any medication prescribed. Dispense drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and provide information to patients about medications and their use. Efficiently performs other professional pharmacy duties including the safe procurement, preparation, labeling, distribution, and control of all drugs. May advise physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES): Ensure Patient Safety Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability. Verify accuracy of patient information. Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage. Communicate detailed medical information to patients or family members. Advise patients on effects of health conditions or treatments. Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, or registries of poisons, narcotics, or controlled drugs. Plan, implement, or maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal. Assess the identity, strength, or purity of medications. Prepare medications or medical solutions. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to plan or provide treatment. Advise medical personnel regarding healthcare issues. Order and purchase pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, or drugs, maintaining stock and storing and handling it properly. Maintain inventory of medical supplies or equipment. Analyze prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions.
