JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: Purpose Under direct supervision, support research personnel by assisting in routine laboratory experiments. Provide assistance with maintenance, operation, organization, and inventory of laboratory equipment. Primary Functions * Assist in carrying out basic lab techniques and experiments. * Make and supply media buffers and water to research areas as needed. * Operate and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment such as autoclaving. * Organize and set-up laboratory supplies and equipment for individual research investigators. * Provide clean and sterilized glassware for use in research lab. * Participate in meetings with principle investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data as needed. Knowledge - Skills - Abilities Understanding of general laboratory procedures. Strong critical thinking, problem solving and attentiveness to detail required. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures and experimental protocols. Ability to use independent judgment. Background knowledge in biology-related field necessary.
