MCW: SARGEANT HEALTH CENTER Lab Technician II Ophthalmology Visual in MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: Purpose Under direct supervision, support research personnel by assisting in routine laboratory experiments. Provide assistance with maintenance, operation, organization and inventory of laboratory equipment. Primary Functions * Feed zebrafish and maintain fish facility. * Maintain records of water quality and other safety measures. * Assist in carrying out basic lab techniques such as fin clipping and PCR. * Make and supply media and buffers to research areas as needed. * Operate and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment. * Organize and set-up laboratory supplies and equipment for individual research investigators. * Maintain inventory and record of supplies. * Participate in meetings with principal investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data as needed. Preferred Schedule: Part-time position to cover weekends and holidays; a possibility of additional hours during regular workdays (M-F) is also available. Position Requirements: Knowledge - Skills - Abilities Understanding of general laboratory procedures. Strong critical thinking, problem solving and attentiveness to detail required. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. Ability to use independent judgment.
