Conagra Class A Production Maintenance - 2nd & 3rd Shift in Milton, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

HIRING FOR MULTIPLE ROLES: SHIFT COULD BE 2ND OR 3RD, TRAINING WILL BE ON ALL THREE SHIFT. Works independently with little supervision. The role provides maintenance repair, troubleshooting and support for this three story food manufacturing facility and cannery. The role is responsible for work order completion of planned projects as well as breakdown, failure, and repairs. This position is to perform and assist with basic maintenance, service, troubleshooting, repairs, welding and plumbing, as well as assisting specialists with the repair, maintenance, rebuilding and installation of equipment and machinery in the facility.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate positive safety behaviors in support of company/plant safety procedures with focus on zero injuries. Regularly complete Behavioral Safety Observations as required.

  • Complete Continuous Improvement Activities in support of the ConAgra Performance System-CPS. Work closely with Production Line owners and ConAgra Performance System (CPS) Experts in the development and deployment of the Daily Maintenance Systems (DMS). Show continuous skills development and ongoing experience in High Performance Work Systems; 5’s, working in teams, problem solving, breakdown analysis and elimination, AMD, etc. Follow and comply with all Safe Quality Food (SQF) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).

  • Promptly at the start of the shift, review the work schedule, check equipment and supplies required to perform the work scheduled and prepare for operations.

  • Conduct shift change handoffs to coordinated line calls, review assigned maintenance tasks, pending equipment issues, provide assistance to Line operations and guide outside contractors if needed. Review any emergency and non- emergency situations and respond as required.

  • Troubleshoot, rebuild, overhaul, repair, maintain, modify and install various types of production equipment, tools and machinery as required.

  • Read and understand blueprints, drawing and plans, order parts and supplies for repairs.

  • Use and or learn SAP to write notifications, work orders, and Purchase Requisitions to support plant operations. Check out parts using SAP work orders.

  • Perform preventative maintenance work on equipment and ensure timely completion of work orders. Consult with other mechanics, operators, Leads and Supervisors and utilize maintenance software to ensure an efficient flow of production. Complete required reports (e.g., PM, Work Orders, Centerline, etc.) and parts requisition.

  • At end of shift, secure all equipment, perform general housekeeping duties and complete and maintain work records on computerized Maintenance system.

  • Perform other duties that the Manager, Team Leader or Coordinator might require/assign.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED, Technical degree in related field, or equivalent hands on experience

  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of maintenance or related experience required.

  • Experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment, food processing or packaging environment

  • Experience working in an automated machinery environment (with PLCs or MMIs)

  • An ability to learn and adhere to work rules regulated by USDA, FDA, OSHA, and GMP’s compliant environment

  • Intermediate us of MS Office Programs

  • Ability to learn, or experience with SAP for work orders and parts/inventory management

  • Must be able to work 2nd and/or 3rd shift hours, and OT

  • Must be able to work within the physical demands of the job

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Ability to work the scheduled/assigned times and required overtime as needed; with regular attendance to ensure production requirements are met

  • Possess excellent communication skills. Ability to read, write, communicate, and comprehend verbal and written instructions in English

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with good attention to detail.

  • Ability to train others in best practices.

  • Acquire and maintain a good working knowledge of Plant Safety, GMP’s, confined spaces, LOTO, MDS, PIT certified, etc.; adhering to all plant work, safety, food safety, and GMP standards at all times.

  • Display the ability to interact effectively and professionally with coworkers, maintaining a good working relationship with all other departments and other maintenance shifts.

  • Take initiative to continually improve performance and work process through feedback, risk taking, problem solving, technical learning (Amatrol) and generating new ideas.

  • Demonstrate high motivation and energy; and in safely working with a sense of urgency in critical situations.

  • Possess basic (or higher, preferred) computer skills.

  • Knowledge, skill, and troubleshooting ability in pneumatic, hydraulics, pumps, drives, conveyors, cookers, etc. Possesses basic knowledge of welding, machining, and electrical.

  • Must be well organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Responsible to report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sit, stand, walk and climb stairs, ladders, platforms, etc. during time on duty

  • Lift/Carry/Push/Pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

  • Can notice and distinguish normal from abnormal noises in equipment and machinery. Capable of listening and responding to fork lift truck safety beeps and to company radio system calls.

  • Physically able to respond in a timely manner to emergency and non-emergency situations at facility

  • Perform repetitive motions related to mechanical repairs, installations, etc

  • Able to work in temperature extremes.

  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to and use of sanitation chemicals.
