PruittHealth Laundry Aide HCC in Milton, Florida

JOB PURPOSE:

Tends laundering machines to clean sheets, blankets, pillow coverings, and personal articles of patients. Loads articles in washer and adds specified amount of detergent or other cleaning agents. Lifts clean, wet articles from washer and places them successively into wringer and dryer for measured time cycles. Sorts dry articles according to identification numbers or type. Folds and places items in appropriate storage bin.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Folds and sorts laundry (blankets, sheets, towels etc.) and personal clothing items

  2. Hangs clothes on racks according to name and numbers.

  3. Delivers patient/resident’s laundry to designated areas

  4. Ensures that patients/residents clothes are ready to wear, not in disrepair and put in proper place

  5. Understands functions of various soaps and bleaches

  6. Follows precautions as stated on MSDS for all chemicals used

  7. Washes and dries clothes and linens

  8. Keeps equipment clean and follows cleaning schedules

  9. Maintains a clean and organized area; sweeps and mops laundry area

  10. Reports any needed repairs to maintenance department

  11. Operates large filters according to established schedules

  12. Ensures proper handling of soiled laundry items

  13. Cleans and disinfects linen carts as required per policy and procedure

  14. Empties washers and dryers as requested/necessary

  15. Operates water, gas, and electric cutoff switches and valves

  16. Understands the proper process for stain removal

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

High School Degree preferred.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

On-the-job training provided

Previous experience in healthcare laundering processes\
