Tarana Wireless Staff Wireless Test Engineer (Embedded) in Milpitas, California

 

We are looking for a smart QA engineer who will verify and validate our Wireless Solutions (focused on the Wireless MAC layer).  As part of the product QA, you will work on the product automation, tools development and setting high benchmarks for the product quality.

This will require a broad top-down understanding of the Tarana wireless devices, data, management and control flows between them, and network communications with the Tarana Cloud Suite.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Understand the Tarana Wireless Embedded Device architecture and gain expertise in all the MAC/PHY components involved

  • Design, execute Wireless MAC layer functional and system tests for various Tarana product lines and review results release on release

  • Facilitate continuous evolution of tests based on features and issues seen in customer deployments.

  • Drive automation of QA owned tests

  • Own regression test areas and ensure that the product quality is intact despite of code churn

  • Contribute to development of tools that enhance test efficiency/management

  • Analyze issues by debugging test scripts that are written in Python (unittest/pytest)

  • Identify defects and own them through the resolution and verification cycle

  • Ensure effective communication of project and testing status to all stakeholders

    Required Skills & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in computer science or related discipline

  • 9+ years of QA test experience on a similar product/domain

  • Experience with Wireless fundamentals and protocols – LTE/WLAN, MIMO, MAC Layer Protocols, Network Entry, Calibration, Packet scheduler/allocator, switching, Ethernet, TCP/IP, QoS, policing, shaping 

  • Good understanding of Object-Oriented Design methodology

  • Excellent debugging/analytical skills with a focus on solving problems

  • Experience in Unix/Linux development environments

  • Experience of designing and maintaining automation frameworks/tests using Python

  • Exposure to tools such as- Xena, IXIA, Spirent, Iperf, TRex and networking on Linux and containers is a plus

  • Knowledge of ElasticSearch based Dashboards and Visualizations is a plus

  • Exposure to Service provider network topologies and NMS/EMS frontend testing is a plus

  • Good understanding of QA processes and Agile methodologies

  • Experience with Jira and Confluence

     

    The salary range for this position is: $155,000 to $200,000 

    Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to: skill set, years of experience and the employee’s geographic location.
