What You Will Be Doing:

As the Designer/Drafter, will operate computer-aided design (CAD) system and peripheral equipment to generate prints for use in production and manufacturing associated with the packaging facilities requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design fabricated mechanical parts and system assemblies using CAD software

  • 3D modeling, create layout views, create full parametric part and assembly drawings, and create DXF files for manufacture

  • Create complete bill of materials for project requiring fabrication

  • Create 2D wiring diagrams and schematic drawings and sketches

  • Use CAM software to generate machine code for CNC machine operators

  • Verify dimensions of sourced parts

  • Perform simulations of 3D models under customer specified stresses

  • Quality control in respect of initial inspection of fabrication parts and pre-shipping of finished products

  • Estimate fabrication costs

  • Adhere to company policies and procedures

  • Product development tasks as assigned by company

  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned by management

    Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in required safety program, and work in a safe manner

  • Additional duties as assigned by manager

    Who We Are Looking For:

To be successful in this position you should have prior experience as a designer/drafter specifically with electrical and mechanical drawings. You should be a critical thinker, able to lead by example, be comfortable with making decisions, show initiative, and a problem solver.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

    Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Certification, Training or Professional experience with SolidWorks 3D Software

  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, team driven environment

  • Ability to work with highly-customized products

  • Ability to handle pressured situations with professionalism and calm and work without supervision

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings

  • Ability to read tape measure

  • Ability to communicate plans, goals and information effectively to the workforce

  • Good mathematical skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Experience with sheet metal design

  • Knowledge of SolidWorks Simulations

  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment

  • Knowledge of metal shop tooling, basic welds and steel work

  • A valid Class C Driver License required

  • Occasionally, heavy lifting (more than 25 lbs.) is required

    Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience with AutoCAD

  • Ability to create functional shop equipment training guides

  • Knowledge of pertinent electrical and building codes
