POSITION SUMMARY The Stacker Crew is responsible for various tasks on the stacker while maintaining environmental and safety compliance at all times. These include laying sticks, collecting sticks in the stick box, banding bundles, and pulling back layers of lumber.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

  • Work with a safety mindset at all times.
  • Ensure all environmental and safety procedures are followed and report all unsafe or non-compliant.
  • Lay sticks down between layers of bundles going to the kiln.
  • Collect sticks into a box from bundles getting de-sticked.
  • Wrap and band finished bundles per packaging instructions.
  • Check stamp is correct for material and legible and alert the Stacker Operator of errors.
  • Safely operate small tools such as electric and manual banders
  • Pull back the layers of wood as they come across the hoist to keep layers tight and in line.
  • Know emergency response procedures and be able to help in emergencies.
  • Know the difference between TSO and stock orders and the handling of each.
  • Keep the stacker area clean throughout the day.
  • Attend all training sessions and safety meetings.
  • Other duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) is recommended.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ability to learn about treatments, lumber, and plywood sizes, grades, and species.
  • Ability to learn package sizes for all products.
  • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race ethnicity, religion, or job type.
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviors conforming to Hoover's set of values and accepted standards.
  • Ability to be internally inspired to perform a task to the best of one's ability using his or her own drive or initiative.
