The 149-bed medical center is a nonprofit, acute-care facility, where more than 300 primary care and specialty physicians are committed to providing exceptional healthcare services to our community with dignity, compassion and respect.

Statement of Purpose: The Manager of Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) is responsible for the leadership, development, and ongoing maintenance of the CDI program. The position manages and oversees the daily operations of department activities and staff, data collection, analysis, and reports to meet the department and organization’s fiscal and regulatory goals. This position also includes approximately 35-40% chart review, querying, and closing the loop on provider documentation standards. This position reports to the Chief Quality Officer.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing required. Masters in Healthcare related field preferred.

Certification/License: MA licensed registered nurse required. CCDS or CDIP certification required.

Experience: 5+ years clinical nursing experience required 5+ years CDI Specialist experience preferred. 2+ years of direct management experience including dealing with complex issues or equivalent Ability to positively influence and work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice clinicians and all levels of staff Extensive knowledge of official coding and clinical documentation guidelines Demonstrated skills in using encoder grouping and abstracting software products. Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and PCS coding. Familiarity with Utilization Management/Review criteria Knowledge of CMS, Joint Commission, and other regulatory and compliance requirements specifically impacted by CDI. Ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Access, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, and Word. Superior communication skills; skilled listener and encourages direct, open, and honest conversation keeping all staff apprised of appropriate information Proven ability to take initiative and build strong and productive personal relationships Excellent coaching, conflict resolution and mentoring skills Effectively manages team performance, including setting and holding employees accountable to established performance expectations. Ability to deliver effective feedback in a positive and constructive manner Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, utilizing problem-solving skills, creativity, and critical thinking. Ability to work effectively in a team environment, and drive employee engagement and teamwork Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and drive performance and process improvement initiatives Strong presentation skills and ability to present at all levels of the organization Ability to formulate and execute strategic plans for the organization. Demonstrated ability to make timely, informed data-driven decisions based on associated facts, objectives and risks. Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and use budgets and projections to execute financially related activities.
