POSITION SUMMARY:

Perform maintenance activities including general building maintenance, hazardous material handling, and hazardous waste pick up scheduling, environmental sampling as required and facility system maintenance. Drive lean manufacturing improvements in the BYG and Plant Services departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follow up with completion of maintenance duties with direction from the Group Leader.

  • Perform facility/building modifications and maintenance of varying complexity, as assigned.

  • Assist and manage outside construction contractors when needed.

  • Assume Carpenter/Painter responsibilities when needed.

  • Respond to pages from central dispatch and supervisors within the facility.

  • Follow through with special assignments given by supervisor.

  • Work independently on tasks.

  • Configure and install office cubicles, desks, chairs and shelving.

  • Work with ladders, scissor lifts and heights up to 30 feet.

  • Understand and demonstrate the concepts of proper metal and trash disposal.

  • Basic painting/taping skills required.

  • Able to perform snow removal and availability 24/7, during storm events.

  • Pass the following Physical examinations: Tow motor, Hazmat, Hearing.

  • Maintain the following certifications: Blood Born Pathogen, 24 HR Hazwopper, RCRA, DOT Hazardous Materials, Spill Prevention and Storm Water Pollution Prevention & Confined Space.

  • Weekly inspections per State of CT DEEP requirements.

  • Accountable for proper completion of all waste manifests hazardous, non-hazardous and universal waste.

  • Certified in performing the mixing of oils.

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. ·

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Tow motor certification required.

  • 10 years of experience in residential or commercial construction.

  • Experience reading blue prints and providing material lists

  • May be required to assist and monitor outside construction contractors.

  • Must be able to construct, repair or correct carpentry related building issues with minimal guidance.

  • Must be capable of using hand and power tools in a safe effective manner.

Salary Range: LG7 - Starting from $18.63 per hour, based on experience.
