JOB SCOPE AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working within the creative team, you will play a central role in creating newness and evolving existing ranges.

You will be responsible for creatively driving the performance inspired apparel collections while ensuring alignment with the brand seasonal direction, business needs and brand values.

You will report directly to the Head of Design for the AFA team and work in close partnership with the AFA Creative Director.

You will partner closely with team members accountable on the same category, for example product development, merchandising and sourcing.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATED ACTIVITIES:

  • Be a key, hands-on member of the Design Team based in Milan. Establishing design & product creation excellence and leading by example

  • Working in partnership and mentoring the other members of the design team

  • Delivers against the seasonal calendar deliverables, product timelines & seasonal objectives

  • Research within Performance Inspired, Lifestyle, Streetwear and Outdoor markets to stay up to date on contemporary styles & trends

  • Work in close partnership with Development Managers, Merchandise Managers and Global Design Counterparts

  • Monitor product development to ensure style, fit, quality, detail requirements are addressed

  • Work closely with the AFA Creative Director and Head of Design to build seasonal concepts and colour strategy

  • Create brand right/market-relevant product that meets expectations in terms of value and cost.

  • Design new, trend-driven product as well as evolving successful items from the past

  • Consider margin & price points to meet costing goals

  • Research trends, fits, textiles and new technology

  • Have a strong knowledge of pricing & fit and attend regular fitting & costing meetings

  • Sketch new seasonal designs and create design technical packs.

  • Drive a strong sustainability & circularity design approach which falls in line with EssilorLuxottica commitments

EXTERNAL : FACTORIES, FABRIC AND TRIM SUPPILERS,

TECHNICAL SKILLS - PORTRAIT OF A PERFECT CANDIDATE

  • Industrial Design degree preferred or can be Fashion degree level

  • 5-7 year experience from a sports-brand

  • Menswear design specific experience

  • Sportswear focused within outerwear design

  • Software experience in Illustrator, photoshop, InDesign, CLO3D, MidJourney a bonus

  • Accessories, bags and footwear design development experience is a bonus

  • Open to work travel for research and factory visits

  • Forward thinking

  • Ability to challenge the status quo

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • Educational Background: Fashion or industrial design degree

  • Positive mental attitude

  • Pragmatic approach to design and problem solving

  • Willingness to find solutions

  • Ability to build string interpersonal mentoring and communication relationships
