Maintenance Mechanic maintains, services, and conducts minor repairs on facilities and equipment. Is required to perform a variety of semiskilled duties in the areas of electrical, machining, mechanical repair, welding, hydraulic repair, pneumatic repair, and general maintenance task. Maintenance mechanics will assist and be under the tutelage of more senior maintenance mechanics, maintenance supervisor, and maintenance manager for an ideal training time of approximately 6 months but is dependent on the individual's knowledge. This time could be shorter or longer. This position complies with established safety guidelines and procedures. Additionally, Maintenance Mechanic 3rd Class may require a high school diploma, but some technical training/apprenticeship is preferred. Typically, this position reports to the maintenance supervisor or manager. Maintenance Mechanic 3rd works under moderate supervision. This position may test up to a Maintenance Mechanic 2nd Class as knowledge in the above areas of expertise are mastered and demonstrated.
