WASATCH FRONT WASTE & RECYCLING DISTRICT Seasonal Class B CDL Equipment Operators in MIDVALE, Utah

*Job Summary *The Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District is hiring several Seasonal Class B Driver positions that will work until the end of September, and deliver containers to neighborhoods for residents to dispose of bulky items or yard waste that will not fit in garbage cans.

*Essential Job Functions *These positions require a full range of motion in the shoulders, arms, hands, wrists, legs, and feet. Must be able to push, pull, or lift as necessary to ensure route is complete and free of debris. Must exhibit manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Must drive and sit for extended periods while exposed to traffic hazards, inclement weather, noise, dust, fumes, grease, and potentially unsanitary conditions; the use of personal protective equipment is mandatory. Must climb into and out of equipment on a regular basis. Drivers operate 26,000 lb. Hook Lift Trucks and deliver containers to neighborhoods and then return the next day and haul the filled containers to the Salt Lake County Transfer Station or County Landfill. Some loads do not fill easily into the containers, so drivers may also operate a rear-load garbage truck to clear green waste piles from the street or parking strips of residential homes.

*Minimum Qualifications *Drivers must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a valid DOT Medical Card at the time of hire. Knowledge of general operation and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment; read maps, and follow routing for efficient and effective coverage making sure all streets and stops are serviced in an assigned geographical area, and follow the laws regarding refuse transportation and regulations governing CDL operators. Be able to drive and operate heavy equipment in a safe manner; work effectively as a team member and individually. Must be able to read, understand, and follow safety procedures.
